Worms in cats

The Most common parasites in cats are the two types of worms: round worms (nematodes) and tapeworms (cestodes). Let us dwell on each of them.

Nematodes – small worms, the length of which can be 6 to 13 mm. They have the characteristic shape of the filament. These worms in cats are capable of attaching to the wall of the small intestine and feed on the blood of the host. Infected nematodes is possible through contact with infected soil or feces of other animals, which already contained larvae. Cestodes-tapeworms is affecting most adult cats. The body of the parasite resembles a thin, narrow strip of cloth and consists of a large number of segments, inside which the larvae develop. In turn, the segments in the faeces come out, so the infected by this type of parasites is enough simply to see with the naked eye.

Worms in cats: treatment and prevention

Treatment and prevention of worms is not less than 2 times a year. And it should not depend on the time of year, nor on walks if your pet is on the street.

Don't forget to banish worms and before each vaccination, otherwise the animal may begin severe complications. In that case, if you have a home inhabited by several animals, to give anthelmintic drug is best all at the same time.
