Scientists studying these animals, agree that the molossus (dog) descended from a common ancestor. The first mention of similar dogs dated to 640 BC the Name of this group, apparently, has occurred from Molossia. This ancient Kingdom was located in the Western part of Greece. It is from these animals entered the territory of the ancient Roman Empire. The Romans appreciated these big tough dogs.
