The baby's first steps become a significant advance in his development. Many parents are looking forward to the time when the child will start walking. On the one hand, this will somewhat dispel their fears (after all, suspicious moms and dads often worry that the crumbs do not have any deviations), and on the other hand, it will open up a new world to the child, previously unattainable.
Young moms enthusiastically tell each other about the new skills their child is learning. And when some babies are already showing timid walking, others are not even trying to take an upright position yet, preferring to crawl.
So when should the baby start walking? Where is this norm that needs to be met? Doctors talk about the gap between nine and fifteen months. Regardless of when a child starts walking — six months earlier or six months later — he will equally successfully master this skill. Often, the age of the first steps depends on the baby's temperament, his physical characteristics (for example, weight), and self-confidence.
For some children, it is quite enough to observe the world from a stroller or from their parents' hands, they do not even strive to gain independence, others are able to crawl very quickly and also do not try to go. It is often the parents of active sliders who worry about when the child will start walking for real, and not moving on all fours. The baby himself is quite comfortable, he crawls to the right point, gets to his feet and reaches out to things interesting to him.
It has been noticed that children who later mastered walking often start talking earlier: it is easier for them to express their needs and desires in words.
If everything is fine, but you really want to speed up the process, then there are some tips on how to help your child start walking. First, give him a space in which he can move freely and safely. If you constantly pull a crumb back with shouts: "You can't go there!", this does not contribute to its rapid development. Everything that should not fall into the hands of a child is easier to hide in inaccessible places. Do not worry if your one-year-old is not walking yet. But if the child has already started to take the first steps, and then suddenly stopped, it's worth thinking about. Probably, something in this process scared him: a fall, an injury, or even a sharp exclamation from an adult. Maybe the floors in the house are too slippery, and the little feet are moving apart. And it is also possible that the baby felt unwell, was ill, or was teething, and he was not up to walking.

Secondly, give him the opportunity to experience falls on his own. Usually the crumb falls on the ass, it is not dangerous, and if you do not focus attention, he will soon rise again and continue trying. Where there is a possibility of more serious injuries (on the street, in nature), it is best to lead the child by the hands.
Third, remove the walker from use. Their benefits for children's development are generally controversial, but by the time you start walking on your own, it's better to forget about walkers altogether.
If all these measures do not lead to results, then after a year and a half it is worth contacting a doctor. Perhaps some problems with muscle tone or spinal cord prevent the child from taking the first steps. Although this option is unlikely. Most likely, parents should just wait a bit, and the baby will go. But when the child starts walking, do not forget to capture this historical moment in a photo. Let it become a decoration for a children's album and preserve the memory of the first great achievement.
