Matte film for cars. What is it and how to glue it?

Matte film for cars appeared relatively recently. It is gradually gaining popularity due to its excellent protective properties and performance characteristics. It will allow motorists who needed to repaint their vehicle, hide defects in the paintwork, update the appearance, protect it from possible chips and scratches, and find an almost perfect solution.

What is a matte film for cars?

This material is a vinyl film with a matte surface. It is a practical, reliable and technologically advanced solution. The abundance of colors allows you to give the car a unique and desirable look. The thickness of the coating allows you to protect the bumper, hood, roof, as well as other parts of the car. Bottom layer - adhesive, having the structure of permanent acrylic, on which there are special notches (air channels) that facilitate the procedure of applying the film to the car.

After the matte film is glued to the car, the owner of the vehicle will receive a rich, even color, as well as protection from:

• Gravel, stones, rubble;
• Insects;
• Light accidents;
• Corrosive processes;
• Ultraviolet.

How much does a matte car film cost?

The price per running meter of decorative protective coating depends on the manufacturer and on the structure, but on average it is about $ 7 for ordinary color film and $ 12 with diamond chips. The width of the film differs slightly from different manufacturers, but is in the range of 1.5 meters, so the calculation of the required quantity and, accordingly, the price can be easily performed. The cost of a set of simple matte film and its stickers in companies engaged in its implementation and installation is about $ 600 for a passenger car and $ 700 for an SUV.

How do I paste it myself?

You do not need to resort to the services of companies that perform the pasting of a car with a decorative coating, since this procedure can be performed independently. But it should be immediately foreseen that this is a time-consuming matter. In addition, it is advisable to invite an assistant.

1. First, you should thoroughly wash the car, so that it practically glitters.
2. The place where the matte film will be glued must be degreased. White Spirit is suitable for these purposes.
3. Now you should attach the film to this place and mark it up. It is better to perform this stage with an assistant. One applies and holds, and the other draws.
4. Cut out the blank.
5. Next, the part of the car body on which the film will be applied must be thoroughly moistened with a soapy solution of water. This can be done with a sprayer or sponge. The soap solution should cover the entire area to be pasted.
6. Carefully remove the paper backing so that the film does not stick to itself and just as carefully attach it to the car body. Roll it evenly from the center to the edges with a rubber squeegee, drying it with a construction hair dryer.
7. When the entire film is rolled, dry it with a hair dryer and leave it in this state for 15 minutes.
8. To complete the work, walk over the film with a felt squeegee to remove the remnants of the soap solution and bubbles. If some bubbles have not disappeared, then you can remove them by warming them up with a hair dryer or puncturing with a needle and re-rolling this area with a squeegee. Very small bubbles will disappear by themselves after final drying within one to two weeks.
