Synonyms, paronyms, antonyms, homonyms – these words, familiar to all from school, must have caused difficulties in learning. The difficulty in remembering these terms and their nature arises not only from the students. Unnecessary use to get confused that is which can and adults. Talk about homonyms. In the most General sense, are words that sound the same, i.e. have the same pronunciation. But not so simple. Consider the concept of homonymy in more detail.
Speaking of homonyms in General, we can conclude that homonyms are words that have a completely different meaning, though coincide in sound or spelling. But this ambiguity does not end there. Researchers have different understandings of the ambiguity due to differences in the question of what form of language. Some linguists consider it as an exceptionally sound shell, while others include in the concept of language and writing. Therefore, there are different classifications of homonyms.
According to popular opinion and classification, homonyms is a common name for homographs, homophones and absolute homonyms. Homophones are words that read the same, or almost the same, but written differently, i.e. have different graphics for the same phonetic form. Homonyms The English language vividly illustrates this point. For example,
Bear/bare. Although these words are pronounced alike, but have different meaning - bear/grin, Stripping.
Read/red read/red - [red - red].
In contrast, homographs, by contrast, are spelled the same but are read differently. For example, even form one of the verb read in the present and past tense.
Read/read - [ ri:d - red] may be homographs.
The Ambiguity of the English language not only affects parts of speech, but also morphemes, for example, end -ing a long time and gerundive forms.
Absolute homonyms, in turn, have semantic meaning and part-of-speech affiliation. For example, three identical words
Match/match/match matter fit to go, the contest is a competition person, a good man, "the second half", team member.
Words-homonyms linguists divided into full and partial. Called full homonyms that are identical throughout the paradigm, in other words, they are the same in all forms of the word. Partial can coincide only in certain forms of words. Quoting V. Vinogradov, we can say that a partial homonyms – this is more of a feature, typical of the so-called inflectional languages (i.e. languages in which words are formed with endings or inflections). But in English, this linguistic phenomenon is also not uncommon.

There is another classification of homonyms. According to it distinguish grammatical, lexical and lexico-grammatical types of homonyms. Lexical Homonyms differ in meaning, that is, lexically, although grammatically they are the same. For example,
light/light, a physical phenomenon and the world;
boxer/boxer, breed of dog and athlete, Boxing;
handle/handle, door handle and pen for writing.
Grammatical homonyms, although they have semantic(meaning) generality, are different parts of speech. For example, the English words
Mere (n.) – small lake, and mere (ADV.) – no more than are grammatical homonyms.
A Lexico-grammatical homonyms are words that are the same in spelling but different in sound and in meaning. For example, then/then - ADV. then and TV. p. (who? what?) then (Im. p. sweat).
