Deeply aware of the threat posed to humanity nuclear weapons, Linus began to actively fight against the creation of new nuclear weapons. This scientist was among the initiators of the Pugwash movement. Pauling in 1957, transferred the appeal to the UN Secretary General, signed on 11 021 scientists, representing 49 countries. The Scientist had stopped working at the California Institute of technology in 1963 and began work at the Center of research of public institutions, located in Santa Barbara.
