20 cents 1932: description, varieties, numismatic rarities

20 cents 1932 – one of the most interesting Soviet coins. Despite the fact that the cost of most of them are low, they are widely collected by numismatists. Special value among them are the so-called perepalki and coins made of non-series alloys.

Start of the issue

In 1931, for the sake of saving precious silver it was decided that coins smaller denominations minted of Nickel. 10, 15 and 20 kopeks 1932 and subsequent years until the currency reform of 1961 was produced from this metal.

Today, the price of a standard Nickel dvadtsatiletnej coin, preserved in good condition, varies from 60 to 300 rubles depending on the degree of wear. At the same time, the cost of rare varieties, differing from the main line, up to 50 thousand rubles, and in special cases much higher.

20 kopeks 1932: new design and a brighter future

Coins from this year in addition to the material received and a new design. The author of the innovative artistic concept was Anton F. vasyutyns'ke. Renowned artist and sculptor, he has worked with the Royal mint in St. Petersburg. A. F. vasyutyns'ke designed most of the Soviet coins and medals in the 1920-1930-ies. He is the author of the famous sign, TRP.

Standard coin 20 kopeks 1932, is a yellow Nickel disk with a weight of 3.4 grams and a diameter of 21.8 mm. On the obverse the classical image of the state emblem in the form of a wreath of ears of wheat tied with ribbon. In the center of an exaggerated image of the globe with crossed hammer and sickle. From the bottom of the wreath rises the sun, at the top between the convergent ends of the spikes a star. The inscription on the rim "Proletarians of all countries, unite!" of the left, but, unlike the coins of previous years, this is no abbreviation “Union”.

Reverse solved in a completely new style. Instead of the traditional designation of nominal value in large figure and the inscription in the center of the coin, this one shows a worker with a hammer in his hand. He holds a shield on which is indicated the coin – “COP 20”. Top right is the year of issue – “1932". All labels shifted to the right. On a circular rim instead of abbreviation is the full name of the state: “the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics”.

20 kopeks 1932 edition interesting for its rare species. One of these is the famous “panepucci” - coins, where the minting was mistakenly used the stamp with the workpiece under 3 pennies 1926.
