The Birthplace of glass Christmas tree decorations is Germany. It is here in the XIX century in the town of Lauscha was made the world's first balloon in the shape of an Apple. The choice was not accidental. For Thuringia 1848 was barren, and apples managed to collect quite a bit. Therefore, the local glass blowers decided to make glass fruit, and then successfully sold them at the fair. This time it was organized the serial production of the toys to decorate their fir-trees and homes on the eve of Christmas and New year.

In the same 1848, in Russia was opened the first glass-blowing factory where serfs produced kitchenware, bottles and other products. Location – Moscow region, Klin. During the war the factory was almost completely destroyed, but by the early 50-ies by local residents reached the prewar level of production.

Glass Christmas decorations continue to be issued and today the factory “Herringbone”, but in a neighbouring village – Vysokovsk. Near to the location of the former factory has the only Museum in Russia «Klin Podvorye”.

In most of the factories, which work today in Russia, toys are handmade. This process is quite time-consuming.

The First stage of production begins in the glassblowing shop. The source material for the manufacture of toys – glass in the form of fine tubes with a length of about 50 centimeters. Then it is heated to a temperature of 1000 degrees and is blown with the lungs of the worker. The result is a glass toy, which still need to cool down before going to the next stage of production. One tube goes 20 5-10 round balls or icicles or top on the tree. The maximum size of balloon that you can blow, has a diameter of 15 centimeters.

The Second phase – silver. It lies in the fact that each bead is injected with a special solution, consisting of oxide of silver, ammonia, and distilled water. The toy then immersed in hot water and shaken, the silver deposited on the walls, and the figure ceases to be transparent. After the ball is painted in one color and dry.

At the third stage, glass Christmas decorations hand-painted. After the pattern is applied, the figure is covered with a special transparent glue and sprinkle with gold sprinkles.

The Fourth step is to cut out a long "neck" of the ball with diamond circle, attaching clasps and packaging of toys. In this form it enters the shops, and then to our house.

Manufacturing enterprise with 70 years of history is situated in Pavlovo-Posadsky district (village of Danilovo). All glass toys are made and painted by hand. They can be called truly unique, because the pattern of each of the figures is repeated 500 times.

Another factory producing Christmas decorations, "Ariel", located in Nizhny Novgorod. It is a modern enterprise continues to work well-known in the USSR, Gorky fishing cooperatives “toy”, founded in 1936. All products are made according to European quality standards, therefore, known not only in Russia but also far beyond its borders.
