Holistic class feed

This class of cat food appeared relatively recently. At first, they tried to classify them as super-premium feeds, but there is too big a gap between them. What is the essence of such a separation?

Holistic means whole. That is, the food is not selected for any kind of cat, not for a certain part of the body or a sore, but in general for the cat. After all, before becoming a domestic purr, the entire feline part of the planet's population was wild and foraged for food on their own. At the same time, none of them suffered from obesity, urolithiasis, liver and kidney problems. "Akana"

"Akana" is a cat food, reviews of which are 99% positive. These are biologically appropriate feeds, they are fully balanced and suitable for daily feeding. A huge plus and difference from simple feeds is the absence of grain components in Akana and Origen feeds. In them you will not see either millet, corn, or even soy. The animal gets all the necessary carbohydrates from potatoes – the obligatory ingredient of "Akana". The composition on the packages is written in great detail, and it includes fresh meat of several types (lamb, fish, chicken, turkey), fresh vegetables, fruits, about fifty types of herbs. It is worth noting the absence of such cheap fillers as corn gluten, which causes allergies in animals, bone meal, meat offal, corn and corn flour. Only natural preservatives are used in this feed – these are some herbs and vitamins. Proteins are mainly of animal origin, not vegetable, they are much better absorbed by the animal's body. Special attention should be paid to the presence of natural urine oxidants, which save the animal from acquiring urolithiasis even after castration or sterilization. People who have been using the Akana product (cat food) for a long time (and the food has been produced for more than twenty-five years) leave approximately the same reviews: they got rid of allergies caused by other, cheaper food, the animal looks great, is active, eats with pleasure, but not much, etc.

Speaking of the feeding rate. An animal that eats dry food needs to drink a lot of water. Cheap feeds that are poorly absorbed by the cat's body only clog the stomach, since the animal, trying to get enough and get the right amount of energy and vitamins, will eat up for the future. Not only is this a direct path to obesity, but there is no room for water in the stomach, and the cat begins to drink less. And this already threatens problems with the stomach, kidneys and urinary tract. The feeding rate of "Akana" is on average 80 grams per day. And almost everything eaten is processed into energy, respectively, the volume of feces decreases.

The Akana line does not have veterinary feed, it is designed for healthy animals. At the same time, according to reviews, this food solves problems with allergies and stomach (nausea, vomiting). Super premium feed

If there are hardly a dozen holistic-class feeds, then there will be more of the super-premium class. These feeds for the most part still consist of meat, and not of cheap flour fillers, there should be no meat offal in the composition. The daily allowance is also small, since most of the feed is absorbed by the animal's body.

"Leonardo"

These feeds are also of very high quality, and some of them fall short of holistic in just one or two indicators. For example, such feeds include "Leonardo" - cat food, reviews of which are mostly positive. The line of feeds includes both dry and wet types, but most buyers give their preference to canned food and preserves.

The manufacturer indicates that it uses only fresh ingredients, while meat flour of several types is indicated in the composition of the feed. But there are no offal, and this can not but please. Another plus is that most of the proteins are still of animal origin, which means your pussy will easily assimilate them.

"Hills"

About the food "Hills" for cats, the reviews are very ambiguous. Some breeders and amateurs praise it beyond measure, some say a categorical "no" to this feed.

In fact, it is difficult to attribute this food to the super-premium class now, they continue to do it more out of habit. Previously, Hills was really the best, but recently corn flour and corn gluten appeared in the feed, which contributes to the development of allergies, soy, which leads to the formation of cancerous tumors. The line contains both feed for daily use and veterinary feed (the quality of which is still better), there is dry food and wet (only therapeutic).

"Bosita"

Another food that can be attributed to the super-premium class is "Bosita". Cat food, reviews of which exceed the manufacturer's wildest expectations.

Initially, it was created as a premium food, but it turned out to be much better and smoothly migrated to the next group. Buyers highly appreciated the composition of the feed (there is no corn gluten and gluten, not a word about offal), and its smell, which attracts even the most fastidious cats to the bowl, and its consistency. The food is divided into dry and wet, there are no veterinary feeds, but "Bosita" was created for daily use by healthy cats. The wet feeds of "Bozita" received a very high rating. They are of two types: jelly pieces and pates. Animals, according to customer reviews, are happy to eat both.

Premium feed

Premium class includes everything that is worse than the above, but not as bad as economy class.

Premium-class feeds still contain meat, sometimes it is even the main ingredient. But you can no longer find fresh meat in the composition, at most - meat or bone meal. There are also by-products. And no one knows what is included in them. It was just the remains of meat from slaughterhouses or horns and hooves – it will not be possible to establish.

"About the Plan"

At best, the flour component is rice and rice flour, as in the composition of "ProPlan". Cat food, the reviews were not so bad. Meat or fish is in the first place in the composition, this is a good indicator, but it is only 20%. There is the famous corn gluten. The remaining 80% of the composition is cheap fillers, corn, flour, etc. The food is not very well balanced, the animal may receive too much of one vitamin or mineral and suffer from a lack of another. They also have wet cat food, reviews for it will be better, but they consist of meat offal, there are flavor enhancers, although allowed, but still... There is a lot of jelly in the bag, compared to the pieces, which means the buyer buys water.

The premium class also includes such feeds as Royal Canin, which is already known to many consumers. The composition is weak, but there is no soy, and this is a plus.

It is also worth noting the food "Brit" for cats - the reviews are different. Someone is happy with the food, someone is not very happy. But it has a fairly affordable price even among premium-class feeds, so many choose it.

There are also Russian feeds that bear the proud name of premium class feed. For example, "Our Brand". The food, in general, is quite good, but it still needs to develop and develop before the premium class. It is more likely to be assigned to the following category.

Economy class feed

Economy class for animals is almost the same as the same class for people. This is cat food, reviews of which are either simply absent, or they are negative. There is very little meat in the composition, in most cases it is meat offal. And even this class of feed is divided into two types: the first is those on which a simple, non–pedigree or yard cat may well exist for quite a long time, the second is absolutely commercial feed created for profit, there is no question of taking care of animals.

"Purina"

Purina stands out favorably from the economy class - cat food, reviews of which amaze with at least some variety. "Purina" has in its line completely different feeds with a variety of compositions that even want to be attributed to different classes. These are "Friskies" with "Darling", which, rather, I would like to attribute to commercial, advertised species, and "Cat Chow", which looks very good for its price category, and the veterinary line "Purina" - cat food, reviews of which are still positive, not negative. They are dry, they are wet, some have 4% meat, others about 20%.

Veterinarians do not really like this food, but recently the medical line has begun to correct the quality for the better.

Other economy class feeds

Most of the commercial feed is produced by Mars. These feeds are well known to everyone, even those who do not have cats know them.

These are the famous "Kitty Ket" and "Whiskas". It is difficult to say what is useful for the animal in the composition of these feeds. There is practically no meat in them, and if meat by-product is added, then of the lowest quality. Such cat food has appropriate reviews, but many continue to feed their kittens with it. It's just that it's always at hand (you can buy it in any store), and cats always eat it with pleasure. But this does not mean that the food is good. This only means that it contains a large amount of flavor.
