Fisherman's Day. When and how it is celebrated

Man has always loved to look at the water surface. The stormy waters of the ocean, the brilliant sunlight on the surface of the sea, a fast river and a quiet lake – all this has long attracted people who found in the water not only the pleasure of contemplation, but also a source of food. Indeed, the seas and oceans are rich in fish – the prey of fishermen. People who fish professionally are called anglers. And fishermen are lovers of such a popular hobby in our country. Despite such a difference in definitions, both celebrate Fisherman's Day on a large scale.

When do we celebrate Fisherman's Day?

This holiday has its roots back in 1980. The date of the celebration changes every time. It is now customary to celebrate it on the second Sunday in July. It is possible to determine on what date the Fisherman's Day will be celebrated in each year only by checking the calendar. For example, in 2012, fishermen from all over the country competed in skill and boasted about their catch on July 8. And Fisherman's Day in 2013 falls on July 14th. Of course, fishing is a hobby in which gambling can manifest itself. But the process of fishing also brings a sense of calmness and satisfaction. It is thanks to the combination of such different properties that fishing as a hobby has become very popular in our country.

What kind of gifts are appropriate?

It is customary to give gifts on holidays. And on the Day of the fisherman, when everyone whispers and sings about fish, the best gift to the angler will be his catch or at least the very opportunity to relax with a fishing rod on the banks of the river. This opportunity can be created, but the catch is more difficult. Friends and relatives, dressed in diving suits, will not secretly hook a fish on their friend's hook, as in the famous movie. But they may well cook a festive lunch (dinner) of fish and seafood on this day. Those who are not devoid of a poetic gift can give poems to an angler praising him as the best fisherman in the world (the old man who caught a goldfish does not count). Souvenirs in the form of fish, various fishing accessories will also be appropriate: fishing rods, a folding chair, a thermos.
