Carnival or Sariputta week – a holiday that came to us from depth of centuries, when our ancestors were still pagans and saw off winter and meeting spring. The Orthodox Church has received it, and now we are celebrating this holiday on the eve of Lent. The whole week we go to visit, go out and have fun receiving the congratulations of carnival and congratulating others. A mandatory attribute of the holiday table are pancakes. They are served with sour cream, butter, honey, eggs. You should only give up meat, and everything else can eat as much as you want.

During the carnival are organized mass festivities, where people joke and play around, sing songs and in the main square of a town or village set the effigy of winter.
