Geogrid road: application and properties

Every year is laid and the repair of hundreds of thousands of kilometers of roads. New construction typically is taking into account modern loads and with the use of new technologies, but the repair of the existing fabric, so-called patching, is often outdated and unproductive ways.

Reinforcing concrete with metal mesh is short-lived and expensive. Fiberglass and polymer geogrids are a cheaper alternative to metal reinforcement and possess all the necessary characteristics:

• Material of such products are chemically inert, not affected by temperature extremes and alkaline environment of concrete.
• Has a unique ability to distribute local loads.
• Has a small weight, long service life, easy installation and affordable cost.

To improve the operational characteristics of the substrate used in road construction, bitumen is processed.

Geogrid for road construction

To date, produced the following main types of geogrids:

• Extruded polymer;
• Laminated fiberglass;
• Stitched mesh of polyester yarn and fiberglass.
