Each affix has only one meaning. Most of the words in sentences have a persistent order. First comes the subject, then addition, then the predicate. Sometimes you can find this order: subject - verb - complement. The Erzya language consists of 28 consonants and 5 vowels. The stress in words may fall on any syllable. Interesting is the so-called vowel harmony, which occurs in some of the Mordovian languages (including in Erzya). This means that one word can be either back vowels or front.
