The remains of this old building was discovered thanks to one document, which was a dedication to the land and was dated to the seventeenth century. The last stage of the excavation was made in 1948 During the works were found fragments of the building, which once housed the Observatory of Ulugbek (Uzbekistan). Also was found the famous angel, which was mentioned above. This instrument is preserved in the underground part of the building. Now he is an exhibit in the cultural institution of Samarkand.

Memory

In the sixties of the last century near the location of this legendary medieval research centre was opened as a Museum. It was named after Ulugbek. The building's interior is decorated with various murals, which depict moments from the lives of greatruler and astronomer. The exhibition consists of photographs taken at the dig, and ancient astronomical instruments and tables of the heavenly bodies. In 2010 at the Museum was erected a monument in honor of Muhammad Taragay.
