Brief biography

The little-known Russian artist was born in 1881 in Kazan. In his childhood Nicholas Feshin seriously ill, and after recovery it's like waking up a talent for drawing. When the family is in difficult circumstances, the boy earns paintings for food. After high school he enrolled in school at the Academy of arts in St. Petersburg and falls in the workshop Repin, recognized the young man “the most talented painter”.

It was then that the Creator conceived his signature style – broad stroke. Feshin executes illustrations for magazines, writes billboards and posters, and later refers to the portraits. In 1910 he went to travel around the world. Devoted himself entirely to the work, Nikolai Feshin six years later received the title of academician of painting.

In 1923, Nikolai Fechin and his family moved to the US, where immediately starts to work. The American public recognizes the extraordinary talent of the master, personal impressions are crazy popular, and his work is instantly sold out.

Artist, sculptor, wood Carver

After a painter fell ill with tuberculosis, he moved to Taos – known center of Indian culture in the southwest of America. Here fully manifested his sculptural talent, and built their wooden house and now amazes visitors by its unusual look. After the divorce, he moved to California, where he teaches much. His business is booming, the paintings are selling well, and the artist of the two continents buys a huge house in Hollywood. His life is interrupted in 1955 in Santa Monica.

Dream, fulfilled after his death

Nikolai Ivanovich Feshin was very upset by the forced separation from the homeland and in a letter to his brother was of the opinion that artists should not leave their country as a foreign land person is alone and does not understand the meaning of his life. He tried several times to return to Russia, but his dream was fulfilled only after his death: his ashes are buried in the old cemetery in Kazan.
