The Olympic gods. Worshipped in Ancient Greece?

The ancient Greek culture is the cradle of civilization all over the world. It is based on many complex entanglements art, wars, coups and, more importantly, religious beliefs embodied in the myths and legends. The main characters of the ancient tales – the Olympic gods, strong and powerful, but at the same time endowed with the appearance and characters of ordinary mortals. They are the protectors of the most important spheres of life of the people, but not people of spiritual and moral values. For them, there is no “sin” and “conscience" of the celestials themselves often violate the existing rules. Only in Ancient Greece, there were about fifty of the gods living atop mount Olympus.

At the heart of the Pantheon was for 12 Olympian gods, the history of the Board which found its expression in ancient myths and songs. they are: Zeus, Poseidon, Apollo, Ares, Artemis, Aphrodite, Athena, Hermes, Hephaestus, Hera, Hestia, Demeter.

The result of a decade of confrontation was the overthrow of the Crown in the hellish depths of Tartarus. The power in the world was divided between Zeus and his two brothers: Hades and Poseidon.

Wife of Hephaestus was the most beautiful of the goddesses – the guardian of love Aphrodite.

It was created from the sea foam and, like her, was changeable and playful. Gentle and passionate, she defended the sensuality, love and beauty. Olympian gods of Ancient Greece were one and all charmed by her.

Not all children of Zeus had given him a Hero. Many of them were caused by nymphs and other mythical creatures.
