Fate

In the period of Napoleon's invasion the Church was looted by the French. It was stolen everything that could be, in their opinion, material value, and the building set on fire. So after the expulsion of invaders from Moscow burnt Church in Troitse-Lykovo had to rebuild from the ashes, which was done in the next few years.

The Followinga hard blow to the temple of God was the October armed coup in 1917. The new government came with its property is almost the same as once Napoleon's soldiers, that is, once again plundered all that was possible, but, unlike many other Moscow shrines, did not destroy the building itself. However, in 1933, the parish of the temple was abolished and worship in it had ceased.

Return the Church to its historic appearance

Despite his extremely negative attitude towards religion, the city authorities gave the Church the status of a protected state monument of architecture of Moscow in 1941 and had planned to begin its restoration. However, at that time managed to conduct only the necessary measurements, as further work was interrupted by the war.

Only during the 60-ies and 70-ies of the finally launched a complete amount of restoration work. However, the true revival of the iconic structures should be attributed to the period of perestroika, when for the necessary works have been allocated sufficient funds. Thanks to government subsidies, and donations of individuals that this outstanding monument of Naryshkin Baroque was returned to its original form.
