One of the whales, which hold many concepts in electronics is the concept of serial and parallel connection of conductors. To know the main differences between these connection types is necessary. Without this it is impossible to understand and read any schematic.
An electric current moving through the conductor from source to consumer (load). The most common conductor is chosen copper cable. This is due to the requirement for the conductor: it should be easy to release electrons.
Regardless of connection method, an electric current moves from plus to minus. In this direction decreases the potential. It should be remembered that the wire, which is current, also has resistance. But its value is very small. That is why they are neglected. Conductor resistance is taken equal to zero. In that case, if the conductor has a resistance, it is called a resistor.
In this case, the elements included in the circuit, connected the two sites. With other nodes they have links there. Areas of the circuit such connections are called branches. The scheme of parallel connection is shown below.
Speaking more clear language, in this case, all the conductors at one end connected to one node, and the second – in the second. This leads to the fact that the electric current is divided into all the elements. This increases the conductivity of the entire chain.
When you connect the conductors in the circuit with this method, the voltage of each of them will be the same. But the amperage of the whole circuit will be determined as the sum of the currents flowing through all the elements. Taking into account Ohm's law by simple mathematical calculations it turns out an interesting pattern: the reciprocal of the total resistance of the whole circuit, defined as the sum of the inverse resistance of each individual element. This takes into account only the elements that are connected in parallel.

To determine the total resistance, you need to add the resistance elements are connected in parallel and resistance elements in serial connection. However, the serial connection is dominant.
