The Pelisor Castle can be called only conditionally. It's original function and architectural features say that this is a luxurious Royal Palace. Compared to spacious Peleset, Pelisor castle is quite small-there is only 70 rooms, and even its name means "little Peles".
The Palace was built as a summer residence for the Royal family, nephew and heir to the throne, who ascended the Romanian throne as Ferdinand I, after the outbreak of the First world war. With Ferdinand in Balesore lived with his wife Princess Mary and their children – the future of the Romanian monarch Karol II, Mary, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Ileana and Mircea.

Entrance hall height of three floors for a splash of light from the huge Windows and the glass ceiling, decorated with stained glass. The walls of the hall lined with oak panelling, many paintings depict Mary and the children.

Thanks to the efforts of architects there were paths and trails, and beside palaces stretches seven charming Italian terrace in neo-Renaissance style. The Park is decorated with statues of Carrara marble, fountains and waterfalls, staircases and sculptures of lions. Near the main entrance visitors are greeted by the statue of Carol I by Raffaello Romanelli. An infinite number of small decorative details will make a walk through the parks and terraces morefascinating.
After the fall of the monarchy, the abdication of king Mihai I and the establishment of the Communist regime, in 1947, the Pelisor castle and the whole Palace complex was nationalized. First, the locks were available for tourists, but in 1953 the Royal estate has declared a Museum, and until 1975 it served as a rest house for the Romanian cultural workers. Later, the head of Communist Romania Nicolae Ceausescu has forbidden access to the territory of the Palace complex and there remained only the guards and attendants. It is noteworthy that, by depriving people of the opportunity to visit the castles of Peles and Pelisor, he Cosasco I did not like this place and come here very rarely.
In 1989, with the advent of the revolution, which liberated the Romanian people from Communist rule, the entire Palace complex has once again become open to tourists.
