In the late XVIII and early XIX landscape art was popular, and count Vorontsov was looking for a place to start a Grand Park. The choice, of course, stopped at Alupka with many springs and picturesque landscapes.

In 1824 was laid the Foundation of the Park. Head gardener of the Park selected the German Karl Kebah. Began a very long and complex work, which under the leadership Kebahom were performed by the peasants. The site of the future Park was cleared of stones and bushes, and in their place brought the black soil of the southern part of Ukraine.

Park style

Alupka Park was planned as a landscape. This means that he was significantly different from the classical parks with manicured lawns and shrubs, flower beds and areas of geometric shapes. The main desire was to show the harmonious relationship between man and nature, their interaction and coexistence with each other.

The Park was not supposed to contrast with the surrounding terrain. Long existed here the trail turned into Park alleys, and among native trees neatly wcreplays new plants. Ponds, fountains, lawns grow where possible to the landscape and done the trail. Not nature subordinated the Park, and the Park was surrendered it.

The Mountainous terrain has contributed significantly to the design of the Park. Rugged terrain made it possible to divide the Park into several landscape zones, each of which was different from the other. The upper Park has fairly steep topography. In this part of the Park has a more natural look. Huge trees, shaded paths, ponds, mysterious grottoes, blowing coolness.

Terraces and alleys turn into trails with springs and waterfalls, surrounded by tall pines. The terrain is rocky and steep, and the style of the Park back to naturalness.
