Currently the top-Tazovsky reserve is divided into two parts, one of which, North, adjacent to the village of Ratta, and, therefore, called "Latinskim forestry". The second is called “Pacholski forestry” in honor of the river Since. The main task of employees of the new reserve in the first years of its existence was to put a cordon around the perimeter to prevent poaching or logging.

Construction

The Boundary of the reserve separates it from the rest of the territory, and, as a rule, is equipped with a transitional flange. Location of the forest

The territory of the reserve can be divided into several natural zones. So, a large portion of the forest (534 955 ha), treeless valley extending to just over 96 000 hectares, and the most valuable asset – swamp - stretch for 90 713 hectares.

Two forest parts of the river Since and Ratta, but in General, the whole area is cut up by small streams and ravines. The water area of reservoirs is 5.5 thousand hectares.

Climate conditions

In the hottest month of the year – July average temperature is +18°C, but in General, the weather in summer is quite hot for this area and reaches +30°C.

It is Difficult to expect something good from the subarctic climate and the nearby cold Kara sea, through which the winter temperature drops to -59°C. However, the inhabitants of the protected zone, both animals and plants continue to survive in such harsh conditions and a short summer one manage to give a new offspring, and others – growth.

Inhabitants of the reserve

The basis of the upper-Taz nature reserve are coniferous forests, covering more than 100,000 hectares of total area, which are dominated by cedar (almost 90,000 ha) and spruce (about 15,000 ha). There are strips of light-coniferous taiga, represented by larch and pine. It is in these forests is found the largest number of berries and mushrooms. Real cranberry “Paradise” tempts brown bear, capercaillie, black grouse, willow grouse, andgrouse.

In addition to the forest, in the reserve part of the area (40 000 ha) is occupied by deciduous trees, namely birch, willow, aspen, and numerous shrubs. Only there are more than 150 species of bryophytes, more than 300 vascular plants and 124 species of lichen.

If to consider, which are found in Verkhne-Tazovsky nature reserve animals, only land-living vertebrates presented here are 230 species. Among them, in particular, 35 mammals (9 of them – they are predators). These animals are usual for taiga in West Siberia: brown bear, moose, wolverines, foxes, and stoats, weasels and chipmunks, squirrels, flying squirrels and ordinary, muskrat and others. Insects there are 548 species.

During the migration of animals, their number increases. For example, wolves appear when migrating moose, and foxes visit here in the winter.

During the existence of the reserve identified 191 species of birds, like waterfowl, and forest. Among them: blackbirds, lesser whitethroats, white Wagtail, Gogol, swans whooping and many others.

Fish in numerous reservoirs is represented by 23 species. Among them is dominated by the spawning asociarse – trout, whitefish, Peled, broad whitefish and white salmon. Representatives of reptiles are viviparous lizard and the adder, and amphibians – moor frog and Siberian Salamander.
