Still life with pencil step by step: tips for the beginner

What is the concept of “still life” for a beginner, of course, the painter. What it can include? And how to draw still life pencil on their own?

What is actually depicted?

The First thing you probably imagine a vase with flowers or fruit, a jug of milk or vegetables, cups, dried bream. Actually, the word literally translates to "dead nature". And the still life can contain different (typically inanimate) objects in the range of two and above, which lie on any surface. Often is fruits and flowers, and sometimes vegetables and kitchen utensils. It is also customary to draw wine glasses or a vase. How do we depict a still life with a pencil in stages? All this we understand, following the simple instructions, the guidelines listed below.

Easiest method

We'll be painting fruit and floral still life in pencil (beginner). Of course, experienced artists can (and should, probably) to write differently. And we start with the basics!

Geometry — everything

Step 1. First need to imagine any subject in the simplest form. Turn on your imagination. What is more like a vase? Correctly on the cylinder. Basket — a parallelogram, Apple — round, pear — oval, and so on on the same principle! Its symmetry is striking and the flowers and petals and leaves. By the way, this can be useful to preview the paintings of the Cubists. This is where the geometry of the universe opens up before us in its full volume! It is also very important to position things correctly on a sheet of paper. They must “slide” from the table, and lay or stand straight. So, our sketch is more similar to geometric shapes.

Step 2. Further escrevem a little lines to get the required shape of the objects. For example, let's add a handle to the fruit basket or vase with flowers. Make lines more smooth, soft, without sharp corners.

Step 5. Draw the petals.
