It was the last feat of Taras Bulba. Enemies caught him, but he lost pride and honor and dignity met his death. When Taras was burned at the stake, he already felt the approach of imminent death, but looked at his Cossacks escaping from the poles, and cried: “Lads, to the shore!”

About the novel

"Taras Bulba" is a work, which focuses on the struggle of the Ukrainian people against the Polish gentry. In his work the author shows the bonds of friendship that bind the two fraternal peoples (Ukrainian and Russian). Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol is not accidental mentions by “Russian force” Cossacks. Cossacks for him – to escape from their masters slaves, immigrants from Russian principalities that United to fight for their independence.
