Another of the elementary schools many of us remember how to find the perimeter of any geometric figure: it is sufficient to know the length of all its sides and find their sum. The perimeter is called the cumulative length of the boundaries of a plane figure. In other words, is the sum of the lengths of its sides. The unit of measure of the perimeter should match the unit of measure its sides. The formula for the perimeter of a polygon has the form R = a + b + c ... + n, where P-perimeter, but a, b, C and n – the length of each of the parties. Otherwise, calculate the length of the circumference (or the perimeter of the circle): the formula p = 2 * π * r, where r-radius, and π – a constant number that is approximately equal to 3.14. Consider a few simple examples that demonstrate how to find the perimeter. As a sample, take such shapes as square, rectangle, triangle, parallelogram and circle.
A Square is regular quadrilateral, which is equal to all sides and corners. Since all the sides of the square equal the sum of the lengths of its sides can be calculated according to the formula P = 4 * a where a-the length of one side. Thus, the perimeter of a square with sides 16.5 cm is equal to R = 4 * 16.5 cm = 66 cm. you can also calculate the perimeter of an equilateral rhombus.
Rectangle-is a quadrilateral, all angles of which equal 90 degrees. It is known that in such a figure as a rectangle, the lengths of the sides are equal in pairs. If the width and height of the rectangle have the same length, then it is called square. Usually the length of the rectangle is called the greatest of sides, and width – the lowest. Thus, to get the perimeter of the rectangle, you need to double the amount of its width and height: P = 2 * (a + b), where a-height, b-width. Having a rectangle, one side of which is long and is 15 cm and the other with width set to 5 cm, we get the perimeter is P = 2 * (15 + 5) = 40 see

The Triangle is formed by three segments that connect the points (vertices of the triangle), not lying on the same straight line. The triangle is called equilateral if all three are equal, and isosceles if two sides are equal. To find the perimeter of an equilateral triangle you need the length of its side multiplied by 3: P = 3 * a where a – one of its sides. If the sides of a triangle are not congruent, it is necessary to carry out the operation of addition: P = a + b + C. the Perimeter of an isosceles triangle with sides 33, 33 and 44, respectively, will be equal to: P = 33 + 33 + 44 = 110 cm
The Parallelogram-is a quadrilateral with pairs of parallel opposing sides. Square, rhombus and rectangle are special cases of shapes. The opposite sides of any parallelogram are equal, therefore, to calculate the perimeter use the formula P = 2 ( a + b ). In the parallelogram with sides 16 cm and 17 cm amount of sides or the perimeter is P = 2 * (16 + 17 ) = 66 see
A Circle is a closed straight line, all points of which are located at an equal distance from the center. The circumference of a circle and its diameter always have the same attitude. This relationship is expressed by the constant, is written with the letter π, and is approximately 3,14159. To find the perimeter of a circle is possible by the product of radius 2 and π. It turns out that the circumference of a circle with a radius of 15 cm is equal to R = 2 * 3,14159 * 15 = 94,2477
