The Trident of Ukraine: the ancient symbol for the service of the state

Images of this symbol in Ukraine can be found everywhere. At the same time the symbol becomes, and the state seal. Everywhere could be seen on coins and seals.

Different versions

The Most probable of the theories of the origin of the Trident-the image of a Falcon, falling on their prey. It was the ancestral sign of Rurik, which signify independence, freedom, power.

Other researchers see it as a conventional image of an anchor, the symbol of the peoples living near the Black and Azov seas. The theme of Rurik appears to be most relevant. In the formation of the Ukrainian people's Republic (1917) the question of the flag and its colors was solved relatively quickly. But with the arms it has stalled. Several options were proposed. Yellow lion on a blue background. The lion and the Archangel Michael. Cossack with a musket. Golden single-headed eagle, are other options. Hrushevsky, President of the Rada, noting that the country had a permanent coat of arms, identified the Trident of Ukraine as main project. And from the end of 1917, when it was approved a first credit of the ticket, on it were prints of the character. The Trident of Ukraine in 1918 and was located at the naval flag (at the top). Current usage

Modern Trident of Ukraine – an integral symbol of independence and statehood. He is also the symbol of fighting spirit of Ukrainians in the fight against all kinds of invaders over many centuries. We must not forget that Ukraine is at all times (almost last century) was under the yoke of different countries. And only in recent decades has attained true sovereignty.

The Christian interpretation of the symbol

With the advent and spread of Christianity, the Trident becomes more religious significance and is associated with the symbol of the Holy Trinity, representing the unity of the Father, Son, and Holy spirit. This interpretation is the most actual Orthodox Christians and Catholics who live in Ukraine. For science is questionable given position. And the meaning embedded in the original ancient symbol – borrowed. That does not detract from the merits of the Orthodox and Catholic faith.

The Encrypted word

In the period of formation of Ukraine as an independent state played an important role giving the existing characters a new, mystical meaning. It happened with a Trident in Ukraine. Some have come to believe that in the very character of the encrypted word “Will”, that is – freedom (in Ukrainian). This interpretation helped to realize themselves involved in a specific public and national idea of the struggle for the bright future of the Ukrainian people.

Whatever it was, the Trident was and still is a magical symbol, one of the most ancient, a kind of talisman against evil forces to the media, a kind of protective amulet intended to protect people, society, the country as a whole from attacks on their freedom and independence.
