SYNOPTIC map-is a map containing results of meteorological observations number of stations that monitors the weather, captured at a specific point in time and fixed is common among forecasters symbols and signs. These cards represent the meteorological station several times a day, and systematization and analysis of this information are used to predict the weather.
Depending on the specifics of the information collected SYNOPTIC maps are ground, ring and tall.
Surface SYNOPTIC map contains observations of the weather stations every 3 hours. It is applied meteorological elements around the point of location of the Observatory, using the international SYNOPTIC code KN-01.
The Ring map – a kind of SYNOPTIC map on which meteorological data is shown in the form of a ring according to the values of stations located around a particular unit. These cards have become a major source for short-term weather of an area. Information about observed weather phenomena, pressure and frontal zones are shown on the map in different colors.
High-rise, or upper-air maps sistematizirovat information about the weather conditions at a certain height. They, in turn, are divided into the maps of absolute (a specific pitch) and relative (for the two chosen heights of the surface) topography.
Meteorological elements called atmospheric features recorded meteorological and aerological instruments on the meteorological stations and observatories. These indicators, in addition to ambient temperature, water and soil, atmospheric pressure and humidity are also the direction and speed of wind, cloud cover, precipitation intensity, the degree of solar radiation, various weather phenomena.

The Problem of predicting the weather has always excited mankind. The peasants in pursuit of a large harvest sought to make agricultural work in the most favorable for agricultural crops conditions. Sailors and fishermen wanted to know how most successfully to circumvent the dangerous storm areas, and which days it is not worth to go to sea.
In the Russian Empire, the construction of a network of meteorological stations began in 1832. By 1849 there were in the world already 54 - the most among European countries. But to systematize and generalize the data collected in the SYNOPTIC weather maps of the stations could not because of the lack of telegraphic communication between them.
Europeans especially are keenly aware of the need for weather forecast during the Crimean war (1853-1856), when on 14 November 1854, a terrible storm has struck a crushing blow to the allied troops under their besieged Sevastopol. The disaster has claimed at sea for more than 400 people, have prevented the supply of food for the army and soldiers ' salaries. The result was epidemics of scurvy and cholera in the Union army.
The French government commissioned the astronomer Le Verrier Urbano to know if it is possible to predict extreme weather events in advance. Le Verrier did a great job, gathering information about the weather for a few days before and after the Crimean hurricane in 250 locations across Europe, noting the data on a geographical map. So he was the first weather map, which showed that the cyclone could be predicted about a day and prepare for him a fleet and army.
In the UK a keen interest in weather forecasting showed in 1860 Robert Fitzroy, a lucky sailor, became the captain of the first English screw war ship and put a goal to prevent the loss of ships during storms. Fitzroy assistants received daily data from 24 stations located in England and beyond, generalizes them, and receive a SYNOPTIC map. The term was invented Fitzroy, based on the Greek ‘synopsis’, which translates as “visible all at once”.
Modern technology has greatly facilitated the collection and systematization of meteorological observations from all over the world. Today's weather map of Russia is made with the use of computer technology. It allows you to produce once time-consuming calculations in seconds.
The SYNOPTIC map of the European part of Russia and the whole of the country is shared on the official website of the Federal service for Hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring. Here you can see the ground the weather analysis conducted by the division of short-term forecasts and dangerous phenomena of the Russian hydrometeorological center.
The SYNOPTIC map of the European part of Russia allows the inhabitants of this region to see not only the predicted precipitation and temperature, but also to prepare for natural negative phenomena, to know the degree of fire risk in nearby forest areas and other useful information.
