Ivano-Frankivsk: city sights

City Hall and Market square

In the heart of the city is Market square. Like all such areas of the European settlements, it is surrounded by numerous shops and souvenir shops. Greek Catholic ascension Cathedral built in the Baroque style in the mid 18th century. Until the mid 19th century the building was owned by the Jesuit brotherhood. High spires, graceful lines and airy Windows are closely intertwined in this building, giving it grace and harmony.

Area of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky and the Church of the virgin Mary

To the Right of the ascension Cathedral is the area of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky, which, despite its small size, not inferior to the beauty of the architectural ensemble of the city center. Square attractions – old building around it and the Church of the virgin Mary, one of the most beautiful and most valuable buildings of the city. In the guise of the Church are intricately intertwined the two styles – Renaissance and Baroque, giving the building a uniqueness and originality. Armenian Church

The Armenian Church – one more architectural monument of Ivano-Frankivsk. It was built in the mid 18th century on the site of a wooden Church in which a miracle happened – zamirotochila icon of the virgin Mary. After several reconstructions, the Church has undergone significant changes, but it continues to amaze parishioners grandeur and beauty. In the decoration used wooden sculptures and compositions, the dome and walls adorned with magnificent paintings and beautiful frescoes.
