The Majority of Russians know about Chelyabinsk, not so much, though the city will soon celebrate its 280th anniversary and he has something to show to the guests. Among the interesting tourist objects include Church of Alexander Nevsky.
Chelyabinsk since its Foundation was a cosmopolitan city where you can live together with people of different faiths. There are Orthodox churches, a synagogue, a Catholic Church, Protestant Church and several mosques. They are built in different years and are the architectural ornaments of the city. But the number of objects of cultural heritage of Russia include only the Church of the Holy Trinity and Alexander Nevsky Church (Chelyabinsk).
In 1881, in Chelyabinsk was organized the Alexander square, which decided to build a temple. He had become a kind of monument in honor of the deceased in the attack, the liberator.
The Building was organised with the money collected by the inhabitants of the city and a merchant by Kutyreva. As a basis was used by the famous architect A. Pomerantsev, the author of the Russian-Byzantine style. Since the work was begun without him, first laid the chapel, which was named after the Russian Prince and military commander Alexander Nevsky. Due to lack of funds after some time the construction was suspended and the buildings demolished.
In 1907 the architect Pomeranian undertook the construction of a temple of Alexander Nevsky. In collecting the necessary funds was also attended by the deputies of the city and of the State Duma, and later even the Emperor Nicholas II. Only able to collect 60 thousand roubles. They barely managed to complete all the work and consecrate the Church in honor of St. Alexander Nevsky in 1916.

After the October revolution, Alexander Nevsky Church (Chelyabinsk) came under attack of the new authorities. They first renamed the square in a Scarlet box, and then began to conduct an active anti-religious propaganda. Despite the fact that the Chelyabinsk diocese recognized the Communists as the only legitimate power of the Alexander Nevsky Church removed the icons and removed the domes and crosses. A significant part of the Church plate was sent for sale, and the funds used to meet the needs of the new government.
In 1930 the Church finally closed its doors to the believers. Later it was converted into a printing house and a slightly changed interior layout, and from the 1950s to the 80s worked there the planetarium and different circles.
An Interesting twist in the fate of the temple took place in the 1980-ies, when the building was given to the Philharmonic. So, the Alexander Nevsky Church (Chelyabinsk) turned into a concert hall. This event was preceded by large-scale restoration, which was carried out with the use of handwritten documents and drawings made by the hand of Pomerantsev found in the archives of Leningrad. As a result, the building was returned to its original architectural appearance and to recreate the interiors.
In 1987, in a former Church installed an organ made by masters of the German company “Herrmann Hoyle”. The tool consisted of 2504 pipes, and also had 37 registers, 3 manuals and pedal keyboard.
The First students in the new organ hall were the restorers, builders and architects. The opening was marked by a concert of the Moscow soloists ensemble "Madrigal", who performed Russian and foreign music.
In 1990, the Alexander Nevsky Church (Chelyabinsk) came into the possession of the Russian Orthodox Church, however, only in 2010 there has again begun to hold services. A bit later the bell tower was installed belfry.
The Old Church of Alexander Nevsky (Chelyabinsk, address: Al field 1.: 264-76-91, code: 351) made in Russian-Byzantine style Pomerantsev. Is a one-story building with the presence of a basement. The temple has a longitudinal axis shaped and constructed from traditional Russian red brick. In the West refectory is connected with a bell tower, has a four-column silhouette with a large presbytery and a semicircular apse. The Church has North and South aisles, a quadrangular equipped with a powerful light and a drum and dome, and 3-tiered bell tower with a bulbous tip.
To Reach the temple, which has excellent transport accessibility, it is possible for trolley buses No. 12, 13, 23, on bus N15 or taxi N 1, 8, 9, 13, 17, 20, 28, 30, 40, 44, 53, 55, 58, 67-69, 74, 92, 96 etc. the Church is open for visits daily. Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 to 10:00, there are prayers and a funeral service.
A Special place in the life of the Church within the rite of baptism. It marks the birth of a new Orthodox Christian. Long before the baptism of a person, if we are talking about the adult, is spiritual preparation, talking with the priest. Then it is dipped in water, cleansing from the original sin of their ancestors, and it goes from a phase of the carnal life into the spiritual, which is accompanied by prayer. Baptized is clothed in the baptismal robe with a cross and he is the anointing.
The Alexander Nevsky Church (Chelyabinsk), photo which is the ornament of most tourist brochures on this city deserves to see her. So, being in those places, be sure to visit her and make sure that in the Russian province there are many interesting architectural monuments, does not concede to the capital.
