The House of Engelhardt collects the Beau Monde of the capital

His famous name - the House of Engelgardt mansion and got to the middle of the XIX century. The owner O. M. Engelhardt, daughter of a merchant Kusovnikova, with her husband, a rich patron and connoisseur of art and continued the tradition of lavish masquerades, balls and musical soirees of high society. Becoming the main concert hall of the capital, the couple Engelhardt invites for performances on its stage many of the outstanding musicians of his time: R. Wagner, F. Liszt, J. Strauss, P. Viardot and M. I. Glinka.

The Music room on Nevsky was collected at the Beau Monde of the capital. There were poets A. Pushkin, V. Zhukovsky and Mikhail Lermontov, writers Turgenev and K. Ryleev, musician A. Rubinstein and fabulist I. Krylov. With the arrival of new owners the status of the musical center of the capital building gradually lost. In 1941, at the beginning of the war, the Central part of the mansion was destroyed by the impact of bombs. The restoration of the house started one of the first to the end of the war. New life chamber hall

Jubilee events 2014

All concert events held on the stage of the Small (chamber) of the Philharmonic hall in 2014, was dedicated to two significant dates-the 65th anniversary of the opening of the Small hall of the Philharmonic society and the 210th anniversary of Mikhail Glinka.
