Most of us turned forty years abroad are familiar with the phenomenon of osteoporosis. This term denotes increased fragility of bone associated with lack of calcium. Calcium deficiency leads to frequent fractures that slowly grow. Osteoporosis is especially dangerous for the elderly and old age.

Why it occurs? Primary osteoporosis is considered as senile (senile), and that women may have during menopause, as well as in menopausal and post-menopausal periods. In addition, there is secondary osteoporosis. Most often it is associated with treatment with corticosteroids or may be the result of kidney disease or liver disease, and rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoporosis may also occur as a result of imperfect osteogenesis, i.e. the lack of the body to produce bone tissue.

In Addition to osteoporosis, there are disorders of calcium-phosphorus metabolism (e.g. pregnancy and/or lactation), dysplasia of the joints and connective tissue in children and adults, scoliosis and deformity rachitic origin. All of these phenomena require adjustments of medications containing calcium.

One of them is a drug “Osteogenon”. Instruction manual describes him as a tool able to stimulate bone formation (osteogenesis) and eliminating the lack of calcium. In this article we will look at what the product is, to whom and in what cases it is shown.

So, what is this drug – “Osteogenon”? Instruction to it contains a description of his actions, method of production and pharmaceutical composition. Its outer form – oblong biconvex tablets, coated smooth yellowish color. Each package contains 40 tablets of 800 mg each. When and who is assigned to the drug “Osteogenon”? Its application is recommended in addition to the above cases, to accelerate fusion of bone fractures, prevention of osteoporosis in those who are prone to it, and in all other cases, when there is a deficiency of phosphorus or calcium. The product contains all the components necessary to accelerate the growth and regeneration of tissue bone. Calcium (as hydroxyapatite) has a ratio to phosphorus of 2:1. This is the optimal ratio for absorption (suction) of his from the gastrointestinal tract. Gradual release of calcium contributes to the prevention of hypercalcemia. Phosphorus keeps calcium in the body and slows down its output.

In what doses you need to take the drug “Osteogenon”? Manual instructs adults with osteoporosis to drink twice a day, two to four tablets with water. To accelerate the healing of fractures – two 2-3 times a day. Other evidence – daily 1-2. The length of treatment and individual dosage depends on the condition of the individual patient.

Is it Possible to overdose and if there are contraindications to the use of this drug as “Osteogenon”? Instruction manual claims that contraindications can be severe hypercalciuria and hypercalcemia, and hypersensitivity to components of drug. Overdoses so far have been revealed, the side effects are also not registered. The drug can be used during pregnancy, lactation (the harmful effects on the fetus it is not).

Adjust the dose and avoid prolonged use should patients with kidney disease and a predisposition to kidney stones. Patients with hypertension it can be used, as it contains only a small dose of sodium chloride. If at the same time taking iron supplements or tetracycline, the interval between taking these drugs and means “Osteogenon” must be at least four hours, otherwise it will violate their absorbability.

Undoubtedly, among the drugs that regulate calcium balance, is known not only for “Osteogenon”. Analogues of it (the calcium) – “Doppelgerts asset Calcium + D3", "Calcium-D3 Nycomed’ and others.
