Any modern developed country pays great attention to the protection not only of their land borders, but also control the celestial space. That is why the Polish air force – one of the most powerful armed forces in the European power. The current leadership of the country understands that without the proper defense of the sky to protect state integrity and sovereignty is unthinkable. This article will be dedicated to the Polish air force. About them we will talk in more detail.
The Polish Air force was created in the distant 1918 in parallel with the Declaration of independence of the state. These troops participated in the war of Poland and Soviet Russia.
After the Germans occupied Poland in 1939, its air force joined the RAF, and later – in the Polish people's army, which was formed in the Soviet Union.
Its current name – Siły Powietrzne – of the Polish air force received 1 July 2004, and wear it to this day.
The first day of September 1939, there were two air combat, which, in fact, launched the beginning of the Second World war. Just then, the air force of Poland, a photo of which is given below, showed his strength and power.
Captain Mieczyslaw Medwecki with his wingman-Lieutenant Vladislav Grisham – took to the air on alert and saw a German bomber returning from a mission. Noticing that he is being persecuted, the pilot of Yu-87B opened fire on the aircraft Mieczyslaw and knocked him down. In response, the Lieutenant went down and found under a further two aircraft of the Nazis – Before-the 17TH. Vladislav has decided to attack and eventually knocked two cars of the enemy. Such was the beginning of the war between Nazi Germany and Poland.

Before this bloody massacre years of aviation in Poland, was not separately taken military units. Almost 750 planes of various types that were consolidated into 6 aviation regiments, divisions were based on bases not far from Krakow, Warsaw, Poznan, Lida, Vilnius, Torun and the city. In those days aircraft in the Polish state was considered as a secondary force. So in July 1939, the government decided to transfer most of the military aircraft to the subordination of the land forces with simultaneous formation of the remaining aircraft of bomber and fighter crews. However, the reorganization only really started in the last week of August and was held bad. The innovations were not adapted repair facilities, very poorly functioning system of providing spare parts and fuel.
Thus, initially, of the Polish air force in World war II with the Nazis played a key role for one simple reason – they just were not ready for a challenge, thrown advanced militarily by Germany.
In the period 1939 an important role in the confrontation with the Germans played a fighter team Poland, consisting of two divisions, each of which, in turn, had two squadrons. In the brigade there were three dozen fighters R-11S, 15 aircraft 15P-11a, 10 quite worn R-7a and the plane providing communication, - the HPH-8. He commanded a brigade the hero of the First world war, a fighter pilot, Colonel Stefan Pawlikowski, who initiated the creation of a separate that is the fighter unit.
The Brigade began its combat duty in the first day of the war. Around 7 am from the runway Poniatow in the sky up 52 fighter-interceptor. This group attacked the German bombers Not-111, flying under the cover of the Me-110.
For the first six days of the war the Polish pilots managed to shoot down 38 enemy bombers. Practically the main task of the team was the air defense of Warsaw. As the main tactics of the Polish fighter was chosen as the ambush on the route of the German bombers. Active actions of the Polish air force lasted for only a week. This greatly reduced the number of sorties.
The battle was lost 52 fighter. Directly on the ground, the poles lost 36 R-7 and R-11. They also destroyed thirteen bombers “Elk” and two dozen light bombers “Fish”, five aircraft communications and one transport. All in all, the Polish army lost 357 airplanes. As for the German air force, in September 1939, they were missing 285 aircraft, which were not only fighters and bombers, but the aircraft communications, transport, naval aviation. Largely due to such serious losses, Hitler postponed the attack on France only in 1940.
After the war by the decision of the Soviet leadership set up a special group of troops stationed in the town of Brzeg:
The GBS of the air force (Brzeg, Poland) in the years of its existence were:
At the end of June 2016 there was an unpleasant incident involving the Russians. As stated by the Polish defense Ministry, the air force of the Republic intercepted a Russian plane that illegally crossed the airspace of the state. The Ministry said that interception of the vessel was lifted into the air, the American-made aircraft F-16, which carried the support of the aircraft.
As it turned out, of the Polish air force intercepted a light plane from Russia, which, according to unofficial data, were sent to Radom, to participate in subsequent competitions in aerial acrobatics. So much attention to the small aircraft were chained because during the last week of July in Poland acted tough restrictions on flights for small aircrafts due to the fact that the country was Pope Francis, who took part in the World days of Catholic youth.
Press Secretary of the Ministry of defense it was noted that after the Polish air force have intercepted the Russian aircraft, its the pilot on the radio and using gestures explained that he had to do. Eventually the ship landed in the airport of Radom and was sent to the aircraft hangar and its pilot detained by local police. In addition, the Polish military pointed to the fact that of the Polish air force intercepted the Russian aircraft due to the fact that he had entered the restricted area without first obtaining specific permission. Despite intense media interest in this incident, more information on the Ministry of defence did not provide. In many ways, so the news that the Polish air force have intercepted the Russian plane did not immediately become available to the public.
Polish air force 2015, almost identical to today's. It should be noted that this country at this moment in time is unique in the world, where the weapons are at the same time as the MiG-29 and F-16. Moreover, the poles have purchased all the available Germans, and Czechs MiG-29 after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Such aircraft in Poland there are 32 pieces.
As for the F-16, the fighters are new, specially built by US for the poles in the period 2003-2004. This situation exposes of the Polish air force, which we will look at in a very favorable light, because those F-16 – almost one of the new machines in the world this modification, with the exception of a few planes in other countries.
Many of us can think about why did the United States put into service the Poland planes better than yourself. Here the answer is quite simple. Given the fact that Poland is on the leading Eastern edge of the NATO military bloc, which is showing signs of aggressive strategies in the process of its development, it is easy to understand the reason for the care and attention of Americans about their European partners, directly bordering Russia.
Also on the arms of Poland are:
The Helicopter fleet in Poland is presented by such cars:
In the period up to 2016 was decommissioned su-22, from modernization to which Poland refused. This is because both moral and physical resource of these aircraft were completely exhausted, and no sense in their reconstruction of the country's leadership did not see.
The First upgraded MiG-29 entered service with the Polish air force in July 2013. This aircraft was assigned hull number 89, and the place of its permanent location became a military base forty kilometers from Warsaw.
Overall, modernization has been 16 aircraft of this type. All necessary work made the plant WZL-2, which was awarded a contract worth about $ 40 million. Due to this technical improvement of the car will last until 2028. Special attention in the process of re-equipment was given to the navigation system, radio and other onboard equipment.
At the end of 2015, the Ministry of defence of Poland decided to organize a tender aimed the acquisition of nine aircraft engines RD-33 of the second series, employees for equipping the MiG-29.
The First three engines will be put tofor 2016, and must be received by the poles in 2018. the Main problem is that the second series of this engine, anywhere and by anyone is not possible, because the power plant such a sample will soon be almost impossible to buy, because now is the time engines of the third generation. Therefore, even Poland is considering buying travisorbin engines, overhaul period which shall be not less than 350 hours, and technical resource to have at least 700 hours. The engine supplier will be required to provide a full guarantee that you install will work trouble-free 200 flight hours or two calendar years.
In July 2016, the Polish media reported that Italy had successful flight tests of the first aircraft M-346, which was built by special order for Poland.
On the runway, the car was officially removed on 6 July. It happened in Lombardy. Initially, the aircraft struck the signs of the Polish air force, but directly in front of the departure Board from them was completely cleaned in order to avoid violation of local laws and creating additional, unnecessary tension.
The Contract with the Italian company was concluded in the amount of 280 million euros in 2013. The agreement provides for the creation and delivery to Poland eight aircraft. In addition, the Polish military will receive a special flight simulators. The firm will carry full responsibility for the delivery of all engineering and flight personnel of the Polish air force. The competence of the Italians will also include a full-fledged, long-term maintenance of the implemented aircraft.
The First pair of M-346 will be delivered to Poland in November 2016. The remaining six aircraft will arrive in Poland in February, may and October 2017, All of these aircraft will be based in the fourth aircraft wing, stationed in Dęblin.
By the end of fall 2016 on the 23rd aviation tactical base in Minsk Mazowiecki will be delivered, 40 missiles R-27Р1 that produces Kyiv state joint stock holding company "Artem". These medium-range missiles with semi-active radar guidance system will be installed on upgraded MiG-29 of the Polish air force.
Speaking of ground-based air defense of Poland, it must be noted that the country-member of NATO already has several batteries of American anti-missile system «Patriot». Also defense air keep 13 battalions of s-125, one regiment of s-200 and “Circle”, which to some extent are already outdated, but still they are quite capable of carrying a full combat duty.
