Uglegorsk thermal power plant is one of the two most powerful thermal power plants of Ukraine with a peak output of 3600 MW. In the structure of the company - 7 units, four of which are designed for burning coal gas, the remaining three run on heavy fuel or natural gas. The station is a structural subdivision of Public joint stock company «Centerenergo».

Description

Vuglegirska TPP is a powerful heat-and-power complex, capable of producing up to 3,600 MW of electricity, which is an absolute record for Ukrainian power plants. A similar station was built on the same project, located near Zaporozhye.

Uglegorsk thermal power plant designed to provide thermal and electric energy of consumers of the Donetsk region – the most developed in the industrial plan. The station consists of two parts: the first focused on working with coal gas brands, second – gas (fuel oil).

Where is the Uglegorsk thermal power plant

Thermal power Plant located within the administrative borders of the Donetsk region, in Bakhmut district. In 2-3 kilometers from the settlements Mironovsky, Novoluganskoe and the satellite town of Svitlodarsk, built for the staff of TES. Prerequisites for building

The History of vuglegirska TPP starts in 60-ies of XX century. By this time, the Donbass region and the neighboring Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Rostov region became one of the largest industrial clusters of the Soviet Union. Capacity already built power plants during peak periods is not enough. The government decided to build two of the largest on the territory of Ukraine condenser GRES (later reorganized into the TPP) new project: one in Zaporozhye, the second – in the North-East of Donetsk region.

According to the plan, the new plant was to become more flexible in the production plan: work on multiple types of fuel (gas, fuel oil, gas coal), increase and decrease productivity depending on the peak load day and bust consumption in the night.

Base station

Construction works at vuglegirska TPP began in 1968. Originally built infrastructure, roads, communications, industrial buildings and residential quarters of the city Svetlodarsk. Summed up the high-voltage trunk lines for transmission voltage of 330 kV and 110 kV. On the river Lugan was built a dam from which to take water for cooling and technical use. The wonders of design ideas expressed by Soviet builders: the station was built, a record height 320-metre high chimney stack.

Development

1974 for Uglegorskaya TPP was a new stage in the development. Construction began on a second, more high-performance lines, the equipment of which allows as a source of fuel to use fuel oil or natural gas. The first 800-megawatt unit gave energy in December 1975. A year later, also in December, earned another 2 block. Thus, the total capacity of all seven power units of the station was 3,600 MW.

In 1984, the TPP conducted a large-scale management restructuring. All important processes have been automated, so as to eliminate errors caused by so-called “human factor”.

After Ukraine gained independence Uglegorskaya power station comes under the jurisdiction of the new national government. In 1995 the enterprise was included into structure of JSC «Centerenergo», where he is to this day. Preservation of the second stage

A Tense relationshipwhich evolved between the Ukrainian Republic and the Russian Federation in the oil and gas issue, has led to elevated energy prices. Ukraine has small reserves of gas and oil fields, raw materials must be bought in neighbouring countries. As a result, the cost of electricity and heat produced by the second stage of vuhlehirska power station has exceeded the allowable limits. Three of the most productive 800-megawatt unit operating on gas (fuel oil) had to be closed. Thus, the actual capacity of the station today does not exceed 1200 MW.

Emergency 2013

29 Mar 2013 15:14 broke out a great fire that occurred because of ignition of coal dust. The result was destroyed four turbines Uglegorsk thermal power plant. The accident led to the fact that 12,000 residents of the city of Svetlodarsk remained cut off from communications. One station worker was killed and thousands were left without work. The consequences of the disaster also felt the miners, and the beginning of financing of reconstruction and social support of the population of the affected city has led to the increase in electricity tariff. However, stop Uglegorsk thermal power plant has not led to disruption of the energy system of Ukraine.

Two weeks Later the situation in Uglegorsk TPP commented Minister Eduard Stavitsky, who oversaw energy and coal industry. He made a statement that the decision not to restore the burned-out unit 4, and to overhaul them.

According to the investigation for PE has led the change in the technical conditions of operation, resulting in ignited coal dust. The fire spread to the roof and then spread through the workshops of the first stage. By the way, unlike anthracite coal, gas coal is very flammable. Emergency repairs

Despite the considerable destruction, Uglegorskaya power station to close did not. The next few years carried out a large-scale construction and installation works. Initially, the recovery of coating machinery room # 1. 8.10.2013 year station unit No. 1 was connected to the United energy system, 13.11.2013 years connected unit No. 4. In 2014 it was decided to upgrade the block 2 with the aim of restoring the main equipment and increase electric capacity of 25 MW and improve its environmental performance for dust emissions to 50 mg/nm³.

For more than forty years of continuous operation Uglegorsk thermal power plant modernization of power generating equipment was carried out. By order of the Ministry provided further consistent reconstruction of power units №1 and №3, №4 with the increase of the electric capacity of the first phase of 1200 MW to 1300 MW. Also, construction began on the plant desulphurization plant to improve the ecological status of the region.

Perspectives

Improving the competitiveness of vuglegirska TPP in the future be due to:

• Reduce the cost of electricity;
• Modernization and reconstruction of equipment;
• Increasing the range of maneuverability of the blocks, which is especially important during peak loads.

Thus, Uglegorskaya thermal power plant has a lot of potential, but due to the unstable economic and political situation in Ukraine, the station cannot operate at full capacity.
