Elena Ostapenko, a photo of which is presented in the article, was born in June 1997 in Riga. Her mother played tennis at semi-professional level, and then came to coaches. For this reason, Elena from an early age spent a lot of time in the vicinity near the courts.
For a 3 year girl for the first time took a racket in hand, and two years later began to train seriously.
Junior career
The First success came to Latvian athlete at the age of thirteen. First Elena Ostapenko won singles titles in national Junior competition, and a few months later won the prestigious youth tournament Les Petits As, held in the French Table.
2011 brought for the young tennis players new achievements. In the Russian Duo of Maria Sinyakova she managed to reach the semi-finals of the G1 tournament, which was held in Bradenton (USA).
In January 2012, Elena Ostapenko for the first time took part in the Junior Australian Open. Unfortunately, in this tournament, 15-year-old Latvian could not show good results.
In 2013, which was managed to reach the quarter-finals of the Junior Grand slam tournament. In addition, she became the winner in several competitions G1.
The following year Elena became the first Latvian, who won in one of the Junior Grand slam tournaments. Courts Wimbeldon Ostapenko was simply splendid, confidently beating all its peers. In addition to this achievement, the player doubles won the bronze medal at the Junior Olympics.

Career
In the Winter of 2012, 15-year-old Jelena Ostapenko took part in adult competitions. Gradually building up skill and confidence, the young player started to win in a low-budget ITF tournaments, both in singles and in doubles. By may 2015, Ostapenko took 165 on the Top 200.
In Parallel with participation in various tournaments Elena at age 16, he represented his country in the fed Cup. With its help, in 2013 the national team of Latvia won their group and went into a more representative division.
