In the USSR, the motorcycle factory Jawa (Java, Czechoslovakia) for many years enjoyed great popularity. The popularity did not affect neither a higher price nor a long wait time, compared to products of domestic motozavod (e.g. IL). For many years, the Soviet Union was the main market for the products. Over the years on the roads of the country left about one million motorcycles with the logo of Java.
The Situation with sales has deteriorated sharply, and by 1991 the company was on the verge of bankruptcy. In the new conditions, motorcycles with 2-stroke engines was almost non-competitive. Salvation for the plant, there are many patented designs and technology. Thanks to them, the plant survived and was able to keep the production area. The former volume of issue we are not talking, but Java continues to produce original designs of motorcycles with engines of various third-party manufacturers.
One of these developments was a family of "Java 650", the first samples which appeared in 2003, and the mass production started next year. The lead project designer was Vaclav Kral. The family of "Java 650" consists of three models. This is the classic "Dakar" and "style".
A Motorcycle "Java 650" in version "classic" is equipped with a purchased engine company Rotax (model 654 DS) with a power of 48 PS (35.4 kW) at 6500 rpm. In the development version of the "classic" designers have paid special attention to the design of the new machine. They managed to create a motorcycle with very distinctive design, which can be seen in the American chopper and also the signature touches of Java is well known for the former models.

At the time of its appearance in the sale in the Russian Federation the price of "Java 650. Classic" had a comparable level withprice of used Japanese motorcycles of similar style and cubic capacity. So he couldn't make anywhere near the sales results to previous models of Java.
Among the obvious advantages of the "Java 650" was a high quality build, ease of maintenance (a maintenance work can be carried out without a special tool), robust and balanced according to the characteristics of the power unit.
But not all customers liked the one-cylinder motor, which, by virtue of design features creates a vibration in certain modes. Also, not all customers liked the motorcycle suspension and high center of gravity, which leads to difficulties cornering at high speed.
The Softness of the front shock absorber might create problems when braking – it comes to the point of release. Sometimes there are problems with the electrical circuit of the motorcycle due to not too well designed layout. Carburetor engine "Java 650" easily clogged, which leads to problems in engine operation. A very strong negative impact on the popularity of the motorcycle has had problems with the acquisition of original spare parts.
Today, the release of all the old versions of the motorcycle have now been discontinued and instead propose a new model - "Java 660". In the secondary market, you can find used copies of "Java 650. Classic", but they are rare and the price goes up to 280-300 thousand rubles.
