Gorky automobile plant started production restyled the next “Volga” model 31105 in 2003. The basis of the machine lay a constructive solution and components from the 24-th model, which was developed back in the 60-ies. The Main focus when creating a GAS-31107 “Volga” was done to the rear suspension, which had planned to deprive the archaic rear leaf springs. But the beam of the bridge remained practically unchanged. The Next batch of experimental samples of GAS-31107 was presented in July-August 2004. These cars had standard front optics and a redesigned tailgate and tail lights. On all models of cars used the same 130-ciselny motor from 31105, corresponding to norms of EURO-2. The only difference was the decorative cover of black plastic that was covering more than half of the engine compartment.
The main difference in the power structure of the body is the removal of the rear side members, which previously were attached earrings rear leaf springs. Instead, they used a more durable side amplifiers to the body structure. In the very left rear suspension standard stabilizer, supplemented by two longitudinal and transverse Panhard rod. The suspension bridge was performed in a vertical shock absorbers and springs are placed in parallel. And the point of attachment struts were located under the bridge, but still were above the lowest point of the car – the axle housing. Due to the configuration change of the rear wings was reduced by 30 mm length of rear overhang.
Changing the body to accommodate the fuel tank in the left alcove behind the rear wheel. While its volume had to be reduced to 60 liters – set a higher capacity just failed. The advantage of this placement of the trunk became its great corrosion resistance and improving the weight distribution of the car.

For the development of mass production required considerable financial investment that the plant management was not approved. So the project was abandoned.
