It often happens that the moire cannot be found in nature, as it occurs in the images obtained using digital cameras or later the wrong scan.
Quite often in modern digital cameras in order to reduce this effect, apply the specialized optical low-pass filter, so if you are really going to do professional photography, then you need to think about the model with this function, which will be able to ensure proper quality, regardless of secondary conditions.
In modern digital devices, the effect of discretization due to the fact that the information is divided into several samples at regular intervals. In particular, one of the patterns in this case is the location of the pixels on the matrix, the second pattern will be any items in the picture that can be repeated on a large area, or which change after a certain number of pixels in the transverse or longitudinal direction.
For those who do not understand what sampling is and when it occurs, it is possible to give a specific example. When there is an insufficient number of pixels in order to pass on accurate information from the image, in this case, it is not in the best quality. In a standard variant it would be enough just to choose a higher resolution, thus ensuring provision of the required number of pixels for detail, not a picture with a certain accuracy, and if the number of pixels would not be sufficient, we could just see a small number of elements of the image.
But in fact it is not so. Sampling theory says that in reality, the situation is much more negative, and if we will not have enough pixels to make a picture, then the picture quality will deteriorate continuously.
Take as an example the situation where in the picture there is just black and 20 white lines, each of which has a width of 5 pixels. In this case, if each line is provided with at least one pixel, the picture can be recorded. Of course, if the pixels will not be displayed clearly in the center of each line, then each pixel will turn out gray, not white or black, and tint it directly will depend on how the pixel is relative to the lines.
If the picture the number of pixels will decrease, then some of them will be between the lines, so that the image appears above pattern, which will change constantly depending on the proportions in which is the spacing between lines and number of pixels. Of course, such an image will not be an exact reproduction of the original, as the regular structure of lines will already be significantly disturbed. It is this phenomenon common inprofessional circles called "data sampling".
To solve this problem, you need to soften the front of how to reduce the number of pixels. Thus, you will be able to completely get rid of the sharp edges on every line, and the pixels can take intermediate values. In other words, the picture becomes softer, while retaining the overall impression of the picture.
Of Course, repetitive and regular structures of lines quite rare to find in the pictures of different natural objects - their presence is often limited to photos of various man-made structures such as buildings and so on. But in any case, the depth of sampling can be impressive, so this effect you should always avoid doing shooting of any objects.
It is worth noting the fact that the quality of the images can be completely different even if they have the same number of pixels. Because, among other things, the difference between the images can also be exactly how they were received. For example, in one case, the can be somewhat mitigated by passing it through a low pass filter for receiving the intermediate pixel values before to reduce the size, while another picture may just decrease in size without introducing any additional changes and not getting the intermediate values on the edges of objects where there are too sudden changes of brightness.
To understand how this works, simply take one picture, then make a copy of it. The original filter when you change the size using the options of the so-called bicubic filtering which is available in the standard Adobe Photoshop. Thus, the picture will be softened. Despite a noticeable decrease of the pixel, the transitions between tonalities in the end be smooth and completely suitable for the available number of pixels.
After that we made earlier copy of the picture reduced to, say, 30% of the original size, using the option ‘the nearest neighboring points” in the same program. It was this operation which ultimately will give you the effects of sampling rate, which is obvious.
The digitization of the sound – it's filtering the sound wave before it is saved into a sound file. In other words, in the target file will not be an exact copy of the sound waves, but only approximate. On the one hand, the digitization of sound provides some decline in the saved file, but on the other there are lots of sound vibrations, which are not necessarily to save on the hard disk.
This filtering of the sound is called "sampling frequency". It should be noted that in fact only in nature there is a sound without this effect, though few know about it. Sampling frequency – imposing a certain grid on a sound wave, and the recording of only certain key elements.
To record the entire sound wave would be quite difficult. For this reason, much more can be found in a situation where it was made two-channel recording with a sampling rate of 44.1 kHz. The latter is chosen most frequently because it is the best option.
