Spatial thinking is a form of mental activity, which created spatial images and is their usage for solving problems. The development of this kind of thinking starts in 3-4 years. Even after 30 years, a person can significantly improve your ability to view images in space.

Orientation – it's not just the ability to find their way in unfamiliar terrain, and not only error-free determine where the “right”, where «left».

Well-developed spatial thinking is necessary for the development of professions such as architect, designer, pilot, sailor, and designer. Anywhere you need the ability to submit images to change in the imagination of spatial objects that will need this kind of thinking.

In order to develop this ability, there are simple exercises. Here are the different ways of thinking, aiming to work with spatial objects.

  1. Think about what shapes are obtained by the intersection of two lines? In what condition is at the intersection of two line segments you get one?

You can try to solve this problem mentally, or to start to draw the time intervals on the paper. But try to avoid painting, because it simplifies the task.

  1. What figures can be obtained if we impose on each other triangle and cut?
  2. What are the figures obtained by overlaying each other two triangles?

This is a fairly simple task. They can be used not only for adults but also with children with the aim of developing such qualities as spatial thinking.

Crisis 7 years in children: the signs and ways of overcoming it. Developmental psychology and age psychology

The Child was 7 years old. Begins a new phase in life. The kid goes to the stage of growing up, going to school. And then the parents start to sound the alarm, saying, the child is uncontrollable, does not obey, Hamming. The main thing - not to panic...

More complex tasks associated with the display of planes in three-dimensional space. You can invent your own job for yourself and your child using more or less complex conditions.

In addition to the described exercises, the development of spatial thinking in children includes games designers, to make a volume puzzles, and more.

Development of this feature will include the formation of correct concepts about the whereabouts of the subject. A child must learn to call words place things in relation to others. For example, the question, where is the toy, babe 4 years should be able to answer that it, say, under the bed or in a chair. Thus, it is very important the combination of sensory experience with the development of a conceptual framework.

In adult life, when the concepts have been generated, an important factor is the ability to reproduce mentally different objects in space relative to each other. For example, entering an unfamiliar room, carefully inspect the situation, and coming out of it, try to sketch the location of items as accurately as possible.

Spatial thinking helps us to solve the mind-challenging tasks. For example, if you need to determine how you will look like a new wardrobe in the room, you will mentally “fit” in its interior, considering not only its size and shape, but the color and the location of other objects.

Spatial thinking is closely related to memory. For example, the ability to memorise and then mentally reproduce the location of the guests at the holiday table characterizes not only the ability to navigate in space, but also the skill of remembering details.

Exercises on the development of spatial thinking are very useful at any age. At first, many people experience difficulties in their implementation, but eventually gain the ability to solve increasingly complex problems. These exercises ensure the normal functioning of the brain and allow you to avoid many diseases caused by inadequate operation of the neurons of the cortex of the hemispheres.
