The knock Sensor VAZ-2110 can be safely attributed to the category of the most reliable elements in the entire car. Despite its small size, it performs a very important function, giving the controller readings about current detonation knocks in the engine. Based on the data gathered last performs a correction of ignition timing for repayment of detonation.
Resonant knock sensor VAZ-2110
This type of mechanisms is of the type piezoelectric. It is located on the power unit. In case of engine detonation explosions sensor produces an AC signal whose amplitude and frequency depend directly on the level of the incident detonation. Input knock sensor reference voltage is applied from the controller a value of 5V. Inside the measuring element is a resistor with a resistance 330-450 Ohms, which lowers the value of the input voltage to 2.5 V. If the detonation does not occur (in normal operation of the power unit), then the output voltage remains at 2.5 V. otherwise, the sensor produces an AC signal supplied to the controller via the reference circuit at 5V. The thing is that the input signal is a DC voltage in the time, as the opposite – AC. The amplitude and frequency coming from the sensor signal depends on the level of detonation of the explosions in the car engine. The data, the controller reads and on their basis performs a correction of ignition timing to extinguish the detonation.
Broadband knock sensor, VAZ-2110
The same as resonance, this type of mechanism is of the type piezoelectric and is located directly on the engine itself. When operating the power unit, the sensor produces a signal in the form of AC voltage, the magnitude of the amplitude and frequency of which depend on similar indicators of engine vibration. If in the power unit there is a detonation, the amplitude of vibrations of a specific frequency is increased, thereby increasing the amplitude of the output from the sensor signal. It goes to the controller, which, based on the data, makes adjustments to the ignition timing, thereby aligning the engine.
