Three-cylinder petrol engine “Daewoo Matiz” series F8CV is a licensed and modified version of the motor "Suzuki" created in the early 90-ies to equip compact cars company. The crankcase is made of cast iron and has aluminum cylinder head with cast iron guides valve stem. On the block milled at the site under the oil filter embossed serial number. Each cylinder has two valves with a V-shaped arrangement – for intake of the working mixture and exhaust gases. This scheme of mounting of valves allowed to create a hemispherical combustion chamber, which is the most optimal for efficient combustion. The Engine is not equipped with any balancing shafts. Instead, in the construction as easy as possible all the rotating mass. Lubrication is also simplified to the limit. Lubrication of the piston pin is through the hole in the rod, and occurs periodically – when combining holes of the connecting rod and crankshaft. Supply of cooling oil to the bottom of the piston there. The connecting rod in the upper head has no bronze inserts, i.e. steel finger work on the steel head. Because of these simplifications, the real life of the engine does not exceed 120 thousand km.
The ignition System of the early engines were equipped with distributor with electromagnetic sensor which has caused a lot of complaints. At the end of 2008, the engine of “Daewoo Matiz” 0.8 l has been modified in order to comply with emission standards Euro 3. In this regard, the ignition system was introduced electronic module, borrowed from a more powerful version with a volume of 1,0 l.
The rotation of the camshaft is belt driven, which allows to significantly reduce the noise of operation. Belt drive requires a special attention and regular replacement every 40 thousand km. Neglect of replacement is fraught with breakage of the belt, and bend valves. When the working volume of all 0,796 liter engine performance “Daewoo Matiz" very decent – it develops the capacity to 51 power at 5900 rpm and torque of 69 nm at 4,600 rpm. But the motor is quite inefficient – fuel consumption equipped with F8CV of cars in the city reaches of 7.4 liters, which is a lot for such a small volume and weight.
