Gout – is one of the types of arthritis. If a person was diagnosed with this disease, he needs to accept the fact that this disease will accompany him for the rest of my life. Therefore, it is important for the patient to reduce the amount of consumed harmful substances that lead to deposition in the joints of the crystals. Purines in foods are among these substances. 

A gout has been known since the time of Hippocrates. But still not found a drug that could completely heal a person from this, cause sometimes unbearable pain, of the disease.

If a person eats foods containing purines, the body begins to produce uric acid which is then excreted by the kidneys.  But in a patient with gout this process of output of harmful substances is disturbed and uric acid is deposited in joints, turning into crystals. There is swelling, the pain worsens mobility of the joints. Gout affects different parts of the body, but most changes occur in the legs.

Because of the lack of drugs that can cure gout, the patient should observe a number of conditions that will be able to attenuate the disease. First, you need weight loss, as  the extra pounds lead to the development of gout. However, dramatic weight loss is also harmful because it can lead to  increase the number in the body of lactic acid. Secondly, you should limit the consumption of products of animal origin, very rich in purines: meat, poultry, fish, and alcohol. Because the purines in foods that contain large amount of fat, negatively affect the metabolism in the body.

There are purines in foods and plant origin: the pea, raspberries, lentils,  cauliflower, beans, lettuce, spinach, parsley, beans. Therefore, the use of these products should also be limited, if a person suffers from gout. But all the other berries, vegetables and fruits can be eaten in large quantities. Almost no purines in foods the following groups: citrus (oranges, tangerines, grapefruits, the lemons), and red gooseberries, bananas, potatoes, peaches, black currants, raisins, dates, carrots, rose hips, tomatoes, cabbage. These products can be used as food in fasting days, which doctors recommended a few times a month. After all, in those days, under the condition of fruit and vegetable raw food diet (five meals of 200-300 g per day) of body intensively excreted purines.
