Didn't need to be a prophet to guess that on the island of Jura, sooner or later will begin to make whiskey peat. In the end, it is buried in this valuable source of energy and taste. However, production resumed here in the 1960-ies with the support of the company "McKinley" selling blended Scotch, limited only by the light varieties. Until finally "Jura", did not meet the requirements of the market.

An Island of contrasts

Jura-whisky come from a place full of contrasts. A wild rocky coast, which violently breaking waves of the sea on one side and the calm and cozy sandy Bay on the other. The sweetness of the Origin and smoke Superstition lurks the spirit of the island, who moved to the whiskey, every drop of which is ready to unlock its secrets.

Production

Inside the distillery the distillery is a classic 1960s years – large room, the net flow from the filter tank, fermentation tank, stainless steel, roomy and very high (7.7 m) distiller capacity 24150 L. it is Obvious that the plant was not built solely to satisfy the thirst of the local population. A relatively short fermentation period not to exceed 54 h, gives the whiskey "Jura" basic stiffness – that means for full disclosure, this tape takes time (or active tank).

Bourbon and sherry

The Master blender of the company Whyte &Mackay, Richard Paterson has been a big supporter of the barrels of sherry, while the main part of Jura-whiskey is aged in containers of Bourbon. In bottled single malt Scotch sherry component has a higher presence, adding fine sweetness of dried fruit.
