From an assault point of view, the plane is just nonsense, because the money can be purchased at least a dozen regular stormtroopers, the cost of maintenance which is a hundred (!) times cheaper.
And yet this is not the result of incompetence of designers. Americans have always made good aircraft, experience in this field they did not take away. Just developers by the time the first flight had to make a machine a whole set of compromises. And this, as you can understand any tech-savvy person, never to anything good does not.
So, I had to constantly go for poor performance. For example, the "Raptor" f-22 has no exterior pendants for missile and bomb armament that makes him assault the value to zero. It went from that subject to the availability of the suspension of the plane was well visible to radars. How noticeable is a machine for modern systems of radar detection, is not known, as the “battle” using ‘Raptor” to date limited to computer simulation.

Theoretically, it is believed that the dispersion of the F-22 Raptor is 0.3 m². From "Goblin" this figure ranged from 0.01 to 0.0025 m². But ‘Raptor” decided to do just the plane, not the flying iron. Simply put, Lockheed Martin at this time decided not to test the patience of the Congress.
However, the normal compromise between stealth and precision bombing did not work out. Even on finding a solution have been spent a lot of money.
